The month of December in 2020 looked a great deal different than the previous Decembers in the Smith household. In early December, Hannah got Covid. We were very lucky! Hannah did not have any complications; and, we successfully kept the rest of the household from getting it. Even so, December might possibly be the worst month for quarantine! We missed Don's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We couldn't celebrate our 21st Anniversary. Hannah, Jackson, and Connor all missed their first track meets; and, Don and I missed all of our annual work and personal Christmas parties.
There were advantages to having a quiet December. We spent time talking with the kids, playing games, cooking and baking, cleaning out, and studying for exams. We finally got the time to spend some quality time, really talking with the kids and we came to realize how precious these moments were. It dawned on us that after this Christmas, we would only have 2 more Christmases with Hannah living under our roof, and only 3 more with Jackson! Life is so crazy, especially when your kids reach high school. I am grateful God gave us the opportunity to spend some precious moments with our amazing kids!
